Planning ahead to monetize my Hubpages

Hubpages is a great place to come for anybody who wants to publish blog style articles without having to worry about the finer points of web design. But let's face it, the real draw of the Hubpage community ought to be the fact that page monetization is so easy that it definitely is feasible for anybody to make a little extra money by posting content on this site. So, this is how I plan to...

Make money with Hubpages

The first thing I want to make clear is that while I'd like to make some extra spending cash by attracting targeted traffic to my Hubpages, I don't want to fully monetize every Hub I create. By that, I mean that if I were to create every Hub with the intention of squeezing every possible dime out of the experience, the Hubpage experience could eventually spiral out of control.

Hubpages is a unique community, made up of internet marketers and aspiring bloggers alike. The common thread that draws everybody into the community seems to be the ease with which it's possible to create web pages. While other platforms like Wordpress and Blogger are also quite user-friendly, Hubpages represents point-and-click template design at its most efficient.

So far as I can tell, the glue that holds the community together is a mutual respect that other Hubbers have for the community to which they belong and those that comprise its core constituency. If I came in here and spammed every site with my 'wonderful forex opportunity' or my 'great way to make money by taking online surveys' bit, then I'm pretty sure my stint in the community would be rightfully brief.

So, some Hubs will be written with the community in mind, while others will be written from a monetization perspective. I think a 75/25 ratio should be adequate. I don't wanna spend all my time blogging, when I could be finding ways to pay the extra bills that seem to keep piling up.

Google Adsense

One thing that makes Hubpages so amazing is the foresight of the designers to include paid advertising in the business model, which means your Hubs can be ready-made for monetization in the time it takes you to sign up for Google Adsense, Ebay or Amazon. Kontera is also available, but I haven't done my homework on that aspect so I won't be discussing it.

Once you have memberships to these sites, it's just a matter of driving some targeted traffic to your Hubpages. I pretty much use Google Adsense exclusively, but I'll drop Amazon or even Ebay on the occasional Hub, usually the ones I don't think I can drive Google SEO traffic to.

Now, my Hubpages are not the only online entities I manage, though many are stand-alone properties that are published for no other reason than the keyword research revealed a soft-spot in a particular niche. If you were to visit my Hubpage devoted to writing desks or cushion cut engagement rings, those were just niches I decided to build 1-page hubs around, hoping to drive some SEO traffic to them in the future by promoting them and backlinking to them.

Others, like the forex investing through ac markets Hubpage and the plastic martini glasses Hubpage are actually article style Hubs that point to Wordpress websites that I purchased domains for, designed the Wordpress web layout and monetized with Google Adsense and other affiliate programs. Those are my bread-n-butter sites, 'cuz I own those. If they become moderately successful in the future, I can sell them and pocket all the money as profit.

Here at Hubpages, selling my pages for a tidy profit will never be an option, 'cuz I don't own them, but that is far outweighed by the fact that each Hubpage I've designed was so incredibly easy and at the same time targeted and monetized, that I don't mind sacrificing ownership. Heck, if I purchased a domain and built Wordpress blog websites around every great niche I discovered, that's all I'd be doing in my spare time, and I'd never have time to promote them. they'd just sit there waiting for links and traffic and such.

Now, I have several other websites and Hubpages I've designed, far too many to list here, but you get the point. I'm really looking forward to creating Hubpages whenever it strikes my fancy to do so, and this really is the first time that's been possible for me. I don't particularly enjoy using Blogger or Wordpress.com, and registering a domain every time I had an idea eventually became quite impractical.

For the purpose of this post, it's important to note that Google Adsense is my preferred method of monetization. I'm still working on filtering known bad advertisers from the mix in order to get the most out of the experience, but Adsense has already been rewarding for me with little or no prior advertising to speak of. It truly is a work in progress, I just wish I'd discovered Hubpages last year, when I was getting started... It would have saved a lot of time and trouble for me.
